Sunday 23rd June. 12 noon

How do we navigate standards of beauty in westernised culture? What are the challenges we face to be self determined in our own beauty?

This immersive event includes some hands on pampering including breath work workshop, yoga and free beauty product samples. It really is the perfect place for your mind and body. Can you think of a better way to spend your Sunday afternoon

Jaspreet Kaur, also known by her online handle 'Behind the Netra' is an award-winning spoken word artist, history teacher and writer from London. She is the author of Brown Girl Like Me. She is passionate about gender issues, taboo subjects and encouraging positive social change in both the Asian community and wider society. Her work tackles issues related to gender discrimination, mental health stigma, the postcolonial immigrant experience, and more. Jaspreet is a regular on the BBC and Sunday Morning Live and worked with the UN on the HeforShe campaign. She is currently a Research Fellow at Birkbeck University's Centre for British Political Life.

Bethany Rutter is a journalist and blogger who writes about fat bodies, plus size fashion and body politics including the benefits and limitations of body positivity. She works in marketing at a plus-size fashion brand and is an occasional DJ. Her writing has appeared in the Guardian, Telegraph Magazine, Vogue, Dazed, RedOnline, The Debrief and others. She co-hosts the podcast What Page Are You On? and is the author of Plus+, a coffee table book offering style inspiration for everyone. Her novels include No Big Deal and Melt My Heart.
